Before you start

Four things, all on your last bill.

Have them ready and the form takes a couple of minutes. They have to match your old carrier’s records exactly.

  1. 1The account holder’s name, exactly as it is on the bill
  2. 2Your account number, and a PIN if your carrier uses one
  3. 3A recent bill showing the number
  4. 4The billing address on that account

What goes wrong

Three things stop a port. All three are avoidable.

Almost every delay is one of these. We check the first two with you before anything is filed.

Two ways in

Move the number, or keep the carrier.

Both put your existing number on Ringhouse. Pick by how tied you are to the carrier you have.

Port the number

It moves to us. Your old account ends.

Questions about porting

Is porting free?

Yes. We do not charge to move a number in, and we handle the paperwork with your old carrier.

Will my phone stop working during the move?

No. Your old line keeps working the whole time. The switch happens at the end, not the beginning.

What do I need to start?

The account holder's name, your account number and any PIN, the billing address, and a recent bill showing the number.

Should I cancel my old service?

No. Cancelling releases the number and the port fails. The old account closes itself once the port lands.

What can hold a port up?

A name that does not match the bill exactly, or an unpaid balance on the old account.

Can I use Ringhouse before my number moves?

Yes. Start on a Ringhouse number today and point your old line at it until the port completes.

Which numbers can move?

Tell us the number and we will check it with the carrier before you sign anything.

What if I would rather keep my carrier?

Bring it. Connect your SIP trunk and the number stays exactly where it is.

Bring the number.
Leave the rest.

Send us the number and the details on your bill, and we'll take it from there.
